READER OPINION: Many people support a new 9/11 probe, by Gerhard Bedding, Keene

In his recent letter, Morris Medvidofsky tries to dismiss the 9/11 truth movement by pointing at the president of Iran’s recent remarks on 9/11.

In the context of public statements by thousands of prominent American scientific, military, intelligence and government professionals who don’t buy the official 9/11 story, Ahmadinejad’s rants are no more than an irrelevant blip on the screen.

Below, I list several examples of significant people, their statements, and other news items ignored by the media.

•Lynn Margulis (distinguished university professor, University of Massachusetts. recipient of the National Medal of Science, America’s highest honor for scientific achievement in 1999): “The 9/11 tragedy is the most successful and most perverse publicity stunt in the history of public relations.”

•James Quintiere (Ph.D., former chief of the Fire Science Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST): “I think the official conclusion that NIST arrived at is questionable.”

•Raymond McGovern (27-year CIA veteran; chaired National Intelligence Estimates; personally delivered intelligence briefings to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush): “I think at simplest terms, there’s a cover-up. The 9/11 report is a joke.”

•Senator Lincoln Chafee (U.S. senator from Rhode Island 1999-2006, served on Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs). Senator Chafee endorsed a new investigation into 9/11 as described in the New York City Ballot Initiative of November 2008: “Petition to Create a NYC Independent Commission with Subpoena Power to Conduct a Comprehensive and Fact-Driven Investigation of All Relevant Aspects of the Tragic Events of September 11, 2001 and Issue a Report.”

•1,122 architects and engineers are on record as of March 15, demanding a new investigation.(See ae911truth.org).

An article titled “Explosive News,” in the Washington Times of Feb. 22, breaks the media’s blackout of 9/11 news and summarizes fairly and clearly the concerns of this steadily growing group of professionals.

“41 U.S. Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Agency Veterans Challenge the Official Account of 9/11.” This informative report, with quotes from these professionals, can be found at PatriotsQuestion911.com.

It might be sensible for Mr. Medvidofsky and others who have not looked beyond the censored media information on 9/11, to do a little research before sounding off.
