AS ONE whose sister died in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, I am profoundly saddened to see our nation’s discussion about justice for the alleged perpetrators of the terrorist attacks become a partisan issue (“Holder, GOP at odds over trials,’’ Page A10, March 17). US federal courts are fully capable of conducting the necessary trials, handling the classified information, protecting the public safety, and rendering a verdict the world would respect.

All Americans, not just the relatives of Sept. 11 victims, deserve to learn the truth about the terrorists’ acts in open and transparent proceedings. We should never fear reading anyone his rights, because justice concerning Sept. 11 is not about who the terrorists are, it is about how we conduct our trials and who we are as Americans.

All of us, regardless of political party, should view these trials as an occasion to showcase the principles of justice, enshrined in and protected by our Constitution.
