While the informed public is losing trust in corporate media, readers are finding answers on a few reliable alternative media sources established to provide uncensored content on issues that are underreported and even black-listed from mainstream publication.
Since 2001, corporate media has become increasingly united in spinning the news toward the staus quo and treating sensetive issues as "taboo" in order to blackout public awareness and discussion.
In the past, campus journalism thrived on opportunities to print issues that were either wrongly reported, not underreported or not reported at all. But today Campus publications can rarely be distinguished from their corporate-serving media.
One of the 25 most underreported stories listed by PROJECT CENSORED in 2009:
- Testimony in the Japanese parliament, broadcast live on Japanese television in January 2008, challenged the premise and validity of the Global War on Terror. Parliament member Yukihisa Fujita insisted that an investigation be conducted into the war’s origin: the events of 9/11.
Conclusive scientific analysis was released in 2008 describing the super-thermite compound responsible for the deliberate demolition of the Twin Towers and WTC-7 on 9/11/2001. An International team of scientists performed a forensic analysis of dust collected at Ground Zero and published the results. Even after the finding appeared in a peer-reviewed science journal, it was loudly ignored in corporate and campus news. The result was the blackout of this story both on and off campus sources blackout of a story that should have been headlines on every paper in the US.
Again in 2008, the FBI reviewed seperate evidence submitted by Architect, Richard Gage, AIA who represents 1,200 Architects, Engineers and building professionals along with 9,000 petitioners who continue to lobby Congress and Department of Justice to open a new investigation of the events of 9/11 based on evidence that concludes "beyond any reasonable doubt", that explosives were used to destroy the Twin Towers and WTC-7.
This second mountain of evidence was sent to the FBI for review. Weeks later a letter of response from the head of counterterrorism, Michael J. Heimbach essentially admitted that his staff could not debunk the conclusions confirming "controlled demolition" of 3 skyscrapers. Instead, Heimbach flattered Gage's presentation as: "...backed by thorough research and analysis." The news of this FBI acknowledgement went viral -- but only to several million on the internet. The story was submitted but consistently ignored by corporate news and campus publications - even as many high school and college students were signing up to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq for the increasingly dubious and likely fraudulent "War on Terror".
A search on Amazon.com yields almost two dozen authoratative books containing hard evidence that the Bush/Cheney administration's "official" story about 9/11 could not possibly be true. In many cases the FBI, itself provides more than enough evidence to convene a grand jury to re-investigate 9/11.
One interesting example published in Global Research destroyed the myth about hijackers with "box-cutters". In a completely different case, the FBI evidence found that two alleged cell phone calls from Barbara Olson's hijacked aircraft to her husband, Ted Olson never happened. Today, most people will recall terrorists with "box-cutters, but the correction to that myth was never reported in corporate media.
Author, David Ray Griffin is a prolific writer and investigator who backs up his analysis with tedious references. His latest book examines "The Mysterious Collapse of World Trade Center 7: Why the Final Official Report About 9/11 Is Unscientific and False." This could be Griffin's best work. The book is totally non-fiction but reads with the excitement of a great mystery novel. Despite the quality and earth-shaking consequences of the content, Griffin's book was never reviewed or even mentioned anywhere in corporate or college publications. Why?
Operation Mockingbird - The Subversion Of The Free Press by The CIA and how Journalistic Integrity is undermined by the National Security State.
Many details of Operation Mockingbird were revealed as a result of the Frank Church investigations (Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities) in 1975. According to the Congressional report published in 1976:
- "The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets."
Mockingbirds are not on the endangered list:
The Center for American Progress (CAP) was founded as a non-partisan in 2003, the same year the Bush Administration used false evidence as an excuse to invade Iraq. John Podesta, who had served as White House Chief of Staff to President Clinton and held a key position on the National Security Council, was appointed as CEO.
Campus Progress (CP), formed in 2005, is an organizational subsidiary of CAP. The mission of CP is to "protect" college campus' political voice from a right-wing takeover. (aka, suppression of dissent).
David Halperin is not only the Director for CP but has been solidly interlocked as Senior Vice President at CAP since 2004, a year following Podesta's appointment. Halperin's BIO highlights his role as Special Assistant for National Security Affairs. Like Podesta, Halprin was a speechwriter to President Bill Clinton.
The difference between CAP/CP as non partisan vs. bi-partisan organizations is not trivial and serves to confirm that the distinction between the two party paradigm has faded in order that the State have control of the message.
