League of Women Voters Celebrates the "4th" gathering signatures

July 4, 2009: http://fairdistrictsflorida.org/ -- League of Women Voters and Democratic Party volunteers gather petitions for to re-draw currently gerrymandered boundaries that overly-protect incumbent seats. One petition is for federal congressional districts and the second for Florida Senate and House districts. The response was surprisingly high. One theory says the petition that failed the first time served to inform the voter before they came to sign it this time. As usual, The City of Alachua sponsored a fabulous 4th event for parents and kids. Vendors served great food and the tabling was informative and fun. The children's recreational facilities were outstanding. None of the rides were "motorized" but required "kid energy" to build fitness.
